Terms of Service

Please read these Terms carefully. They include important points about your responsibilities, our liability, and what happens when you attend or host events discovered through Pulse.

Welcome to Pulse. These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Pulse (“Pulse,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the operator of the Pulse mobile application and website (together, the “Service”). Pulse is an early-stage service currently operated by its founding team and in the process of being incorporated; our contact details are in section 16. Please read these Terms carefully.

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, joining the waitlist, or otherwise accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 15 years old to use the Service. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use the Service with the involvement and consent of a parent or legal guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. By using Pulse you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity (or the required parental consent) to enter into these Terms. The Service is intended for use where it is lawfully available; you are responsible for compliance with your local laws.

3. Accounts

To access most features you must create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep it up to date, and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately at support@pulse-map.app if you suspect unauthorized use. We may offer sign-in through third-party providers; your use of those is subject to their terms.

4. The service

Pulse helps you discover events happening near you on an interactive map, create public or private events, join and coordinate with other attendees, follow organizers, and share ephemeral photos and videos that are designed to disappear after 24 hours. Features may change, launch city by city, or be discontinued at our discretion. We do not guarantee that any event, organizer, or venue listed on the Service is safe, lawful, accurate, or as described.

5. Your content

“User Content” means anything you post, upload, or share through the Service, including messages, photos, videos, event details, and profile information. You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant Pulse a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable license to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt, and distribute your User Content solely to operate, provide, and improve the Service. This license ends when you or we delete the User Content, except where it has been shared with others who have not deleted it, or where we must retain it to comply with law.

You are solely responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights necessary to post it and that it does not violate these Terms or any law or third-party right.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • post content that is unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, or sexually exploitative;
  • impersonate any person or organization, or misrepresent your affiliation;
  • organize, promote, or facilitate illegal, dangerous, or harmful activity;
  • collect or harvest other users’ data, or track attendees without consent;
  • spam, scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service or its security;
  • use the Service to stalk, endanger, or cause harm to any person.

We may remove content or suspend accounts that we reasonably believe violate these rules.

7. Events & gatherings

Pulse is a platform for discovering and coordinating real-world gatherings. We are not the organizer of user-created events and are not responsible for them. Attending or hosting an event is at your own risk. Organizers are responsible for the safety, legality, permits, and conduct of their events, and for any admission, fees, or refunds. Always exercise caution when meeting people or attending gatherings arranged through the Service.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its software, design, logos, and the “Pulse” name, is owned by Pulse and its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms. You may not copy, modify, or create derivative works of the Service except as permitted by law.

9. Third-party services

The Service relies on and links to third-party services, including mapping, hosting, authentication, and analytics providers, including Supabase (database, storage, and authentication), our maps and geolocation provider, our email-delivery provider, and our analytics provider. We are not responsible for third-party services, and your use of them may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

10. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have violated these Terms or to protect the Service or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including content licenses you granted to others, intellectual property, disclaimers, liability limits, and indemnity) will survive.

11. Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that any content, event, or user is accurate, safe, or trustworthy, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

12. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Pulse and its officers, employees, and agents will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or personal injury, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the Service, or your attendance at or hosting of any event. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the greater of EUR 100 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law (including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence).

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pulse from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your User Content, your use of the Service, your events, or your violation of these Terms or any law or third-party right.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by email. Changes take effect when posted unless stated otherwise. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing law & disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of Finland, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be resolved in the courts of Helsinki, Finland, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-law provisions, or of the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence, where local law so requires.
